Dallas, TX; February 16, 2026— The United States Artificial Intelligence Institute (USAII®) invites students across the globe to pre-register for the USAII’s Global AI Hackathon 2026, a fully virtual international competition designed to empower the next generation of responsible AI innovators. Scheduled for June 2026, the hackathon is open to high school students in Grades 9–12 as well as undergraduate and graduate students worldwide.
The USAII’s Global AI Hackathon is structured to go beyond theory and classroom learning. Participants will design, build, and present real-world artificial intelligence solutions that address meaningful challenges in education, productivity, sustainability, health, and social impact. Students may compete individually or in teams of up to five members, collaborating across schools, cities, and countries in a structured and inclusive environment.
Unlike traditional competitions that emphasize speed alone, this hackathon is designed as a guided learning experience. Students will receive mentorship support, access to optional virtual office hours, and curated resources to help them develop their ideas responsibly and effectively. The program encourages curiosity, experimentation, and collaboration, ensuring that even first-time participants can engage confidently.
The competition features a total prize pool of USD 15,000, including grand prizes of USD 6,000 for the High School category and USD 9,000 for the College category, along with multiple special awards such as Best Design, Best Technical, and Best Pitch. In addition to cash prizes, winning teams will be awarded scholarships for globally recognized USAII AI certification programs, extending the impact of the experience beyond the event itself.
Students who participate will gain hands-on experience applying AI concepts, strengthen problem-solving and teamwork skills, and build project portfolios that enhance college applications and career prospects. Following the hackathon, participants will receive recognition certificates, award announcements, and access to next-step opportunities including certifications, showcases, and future USAII initiatives.
The hackathon is organized by USAII®, a global AI certification body committed to advancing responsible AI education and workforce readiness. The inaugural edition has been intentionally designed with a strong focus on execution quality, mentorship, structured evaluation, and meaningful student outcomes.
