Dallas, TX, February 24, 2026— The United States Artificial Intelligence Institute (USAII®) has partnered with Communities In Schools (CIS) of Chicago to provide Chicago-area students with access to the USAII® Global AI Hackathon 2026, a worldwide virtual competition designed to build real-world skills in artificial intelligence, innovation, and career readiness.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding opportunity and ensuring that students, regardless of background or zip code, have access to the resources, experiences, and connections they need to succeed.
Communities In Schools of Chicago partners with 250 Chicago Public Schools and a network of more than 220 community organizations to connect students with programs and resources that support their holistic needs. By providing students with high-impact learning experiences, career exposure, and global collaboration, the USAII® Global AI Hackathon directly advances CIS’ mission.
Through this partnership, CIS of Chicago students will have the opportunity to participate in a global learning experience that will bring together 20,000+ students from 500 schools across more than 100 countries. The hackathon will take place June 20–21, 2026, and participation is completely free.
The USAII® Global AI Hackathon challenges students to work in teams to design and present AI-driven solutions to real-world problems. Participants collaborate across cultures and time zones, gain exposure to responsible AI practices, and present their ideas to industry professionals and experienced judges. The program is inclusive and accessible, and no prior AI, coding, or technical experience is required.

What Students Will Gain
Communities In Schools of Chicago supports thousands of students each year by connecting schools with community programs, essential resources, and individualized support services that address both academic and non-academic barriers to success. By introducing students to emerging technology and global career pathways, the USAII partnership extends CIS’s impact beyond the classroom and into the future workforce. Students may participate individually or form teams of 2–5 members, working virtually to develop and submit their projects.
Students will also have access to optional USAII’s AI certification pathways focused on AI literacy, ethics, and real-world applications, aligned with international standards.
